Naji Mazloum

Passionate Motivator

Naji Mazloum teaches math at Lincoln-King High School and is a favorite among students. Principal Andy Anuzis says, “Students give the most honest evaluations, and many students say Mr. Mazloum has a great way of explaining complicated math problems. Students ask to be scheduled into his class. That’s a strong endorsement.”

What’s your best memory of your own school days?

If there is a moment I love to remember during my high school times was when Mr. Greg took over our mathematics class. I was poor in the subject, but due to the motivation from this teacher I was able to change my attitude and significantly improved my grades. I can brag of that today as I shape other learners in the same subject.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I am a bodybuilder. Bodybuilding is more than just a sport or hobby. Bodybuilding teaches discipline, concentration, and focus. These traits learned in the gym can be applied to all aspects of life to make all that we do a success.

What’s your professional superpower?

As a mathematics teacher, my professional superpowers are passion, enthusiasm, and motivation. I always believe every student has potential to succeed and produce better grades. I focus on changing the environment of my class to motivate every student and empower them to like math.

How do you empower your students to live their complete life?

I make sure that every student is empowered by giving them a voice in class through forums that seek to help them participate in every lesson and motivate them. I make sure to engage my students in discussions and feedback sessions to identify their weaknesses in different topics. I also focus on those students who encounter challenges by giving them individual coaching sessions.

What’s the one word your students would use to describe you?

If there is one single word that my students would use to describe me it would be “passionate.” I change the attitude of my students by showing passion in the subject which helps them believe in their ability to improve. I am motivated to accommodate all my students irrespective of their abilities and performance. Through proper communication skills both verbal and non-verbal, my students enjoy the class in all aspects.
