Elijah Richardson

Empathetic Advocate

Elijah Richardson is a man who wears many hats, all with the same purpose: to advocate for and improve the lives of Detroit’s youth. He is the Dean of Students at Cornerstone Jefferson-Douglass Academy and also serves as the President & Community Initiatives Director for Whose House Our House (WHOH) Detroit. WHOH utilizes community policing to bridge that gap between law enforcement and community through empowering inner-city youth.

This summer, WHOH hopes to send 96 students to Kids Across America Summer Camp. At Kids Across America, their mission is to build Christian leaders by encouraging, equipping, and empowering urban youth and their mentors through camping and education.

What’s your best memory of your own school days?

My best memory of my own school days would have to be appearing on the news for football.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that I volunteer all of my free time to WHOH Detroit.

What’s your professional superpower?

My professional superpower is empathy.

How do you empower your students to live their complete life?

I empower my students to live their complete life by being a living example for them.
